Gibbons are the new deer

Living in north-west Scotland, I'm very used to the dangers of deer on the roads. Here, it's gibbons. Coming round a corner to find a large group of them gathered in the road certainly added some interest to my library commute. I wish I could say I'd stopped to take this picture of them, but that would be dishonest - not to mention a breach of copyright - so I have to admit that I had to resort to t'interweb.
Research news of the day is that the jolly Miss Coombes (below, centre) used visual aids in her lessons. Or at least brought them out for photoshoots, to demonstrate what fun the girls have in class. This dates from about 1891, and is one of the gems I've found in the photo albums of the Lovedale mission and educational institution.
